US Open Golf

The 2018 United States Open Championship will be the 118th U.S. Open. Scheduled for June 14–17 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Shinnecock Hills, New York, about ninety miles (145 km) east of New York City on Long Island, it will be the fifth U.S. Open held at this course.

If there is a tie after 72 holes then a two-hole aggregate playoff, introduced by the USGA this year, will be used to determine the champion. Previously playoffs at the U.S. Open were 18 holes, with sudden-death after that, if needed. The last 18-hole playoff occurred in 2008.

Jordan Spieth, winless this year and down to No. 4 in the world rankings, oddly finds himself a 9/1 favorite to win the U.S. Open the week of golf's second major of 2018 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Clubs on Long Island in New York.

Meanwhile, Dustin Johnson, who ascended to No. 1 in the world after this weekend's convincing victory at the St. Jude Classic, has dropped to 12/1 behind Spieth and Rory McIlroy (10/1) in Monday's updated betting odds

Tiger Woods is next with Rickie Fowler at 16/1.Spieth and Johnson traded U.S. Open wins in 2015 and '16, with Johnson also finishing runner up to Spieth in 2015 at Chambers Bay when he three-putted the final hole to lose by one stroke. Woods last won a U.S. Open in 2008 at Torrey Pines.
